Purpose: This position is responsible for providing direct service to patients in the form of primarily group and individual therapy (as needed) in substance use disorder outpatient setting. The position creates an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, positive emphasis, and a calm attitude when visiting with staff, patients, and visitors. Duties: The Counselor will provide treatment and casework services to the patient as directed by the Regional Clinical Director in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and with ReVIDA's policies and procedures. Provide timely documentation of patient services based on the plan of care. Identify assigned patients' other physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs. Manage related expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner by the company's budget. Physical and Work Conditions: · Work is sedentary and ambulant with occasional physical exertion (lifting 30 or more pounds, walking, standing, etc.) ability to support patient weight in case of emergency or disability requiring assistance. · Must be able to see, stoop, sit, stand, bend, reach, and be mobile (whether natural or with accommodation). Quality of hearing (whether honest or with capacity) must be acceptable. · Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. · Must be able to relate to and work with mentally and physically ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and hostile patients as needed. · Must be emotionally stable and exhibit the ability to display coping skills to deal with multiple situations. · Risk of exposure to infections, bloodborne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials or contagious diseases. For this reason, "Universal Precautions" must always be followed. · The Counselor should understand, support, and comply with the established workplace violence, ADA, EEOC, and Corporate Compliance program and commit to worker safety, health, and patient safety. · Subject to work schedule and shift changes Supervisor/ Competency evaluations: Supervision and competency evaluations are provided through facility monitoring activities, direct observation, staff meetings, in-services, management meetings, individual meetings, Employee Improvement processes, reporting, interactions, strategic planning, outcomes, and annual competency review. Competencies: · Proficient at group therapeutic process for substance use disorders · Able to manage clinical acuity in a group setting · Effective at working within a team scheduling environment · Ensures that all documentation regarding patient care meets regulatory and payer requirements. · Maintains strict confidentiality. · Always maintain compliance with all legal and company requirements. · Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect. · Adheres to Corporate Compliance Program and Mission & Value Statement. · Participates in special projects as needed Other Functions: · Maintains regular and predictable attendance. · Performs other essential duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: · Knowledge in the disorder process of substance use disorders, dual diagnoses, opioid use disorder, and recovery support services · Strong organizational, personable capabilities of balancing the needs of multiple patients as well as healthcare providers and insurance representatives to address barriers that will ensure the patient can navigate his/her recovery experience · Active listening skills, good judgment, and decision making · Good verbal and written communication skills · Ability to monitor a patient's progress and needed interventional actions · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public, such as external vendors. · Ability to read, write and communicate effectively orally and in writing in English. · The ability to work independently and in a group setting, high integrity, reasonable and thoughtful judgment, a sense of urgency, and analytical and intuitive skills. · Dedicated to follow-thru and results. Education and/or Experience Requirements: o Must be willing to seek licensure in each state (Tennessee or Virginia Licensure) o Licensed or certified by the state of Tennessee in their field (LPC, LPC-MHSP, LCSW). o Thoroughly trained in overall counseling technique and theory o Display excellence in own work, including documentation, relationships with patients, and ability to work with others o Effectively interview with Clinical Director, Program Directors, and others, as needed o One (1) year of previous experience working with SUD/OUD/BH populations While this job description is intended to reflect the job requirements, management reserves the right to add or remove duties from jobs when circumstances (e.g., emergencies, changes in workload, rush jobs, or technological developments) dictate.
