Axle is seeking a Research Analyst to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) located in Bethesda, Maryland. The contractor will support the office in scientific project analysis and coding.







Deliverables: Documentation of methods and decision-making. - Ad-Hoc Management of essential documents including reports and Standard Operating Procedures and associated meta-data and data dictionaries. - Ad-Hoc Excel spreadsheet, Word documents, or other format of data and coding. - Ad-Hoc PowerPoint presentations and other project documentation. - Ad-Hoc Work Details: Develops and reviews written materials regarding analytical projects in collaboration with team members. - 1 Manages essential documents and report preparation; ensure that descriptions of methods are complete and accurate, and that graphs, tables, figures and interpretations reflect the results of the analyses in collaboration with teammates from the Reports and Analysis Branch (RAB) of the Office of Science Policy, Planning, and Communications (OSPPC). - 2 Develops timelines in collaboration with other RAB staff, and monitors/updates said timelines; recognizes challenges and recommends their consideration alongside potential solutions. - 3 Applies internal coding practices in combination with behavioral, psychology, and/or social or biological science knowledge to conduct classification of research projects, including extramural grants, contracts, and intramural research projects. - 4 Assists with ongoing quality assurance processes and communicates discrepancies or data quality issues; protects against inappropriate access pursuant to HHS and NIH Security Protocols, the Privacy Act, among other safeguards. - 5 Provides technical experience needed to assist in analyzing scientific and technical research projects. Discusses and evaluates project plans with RAB staff and NIMH staff requesting the work; collaborates with individuals from different offices and functional areas. Communicates regarding progress of analytical projects with partners. Prepares various reports and presentations detailing analyses of data. To ensure timely completion of research project classification, uses available information and data, and coordinates/communicates with Institute staff/colleagues on processes. Serves as support for the Institute point of contact for agency-wide data collection efforts, responds to requests and communications, provides training or other assistance to Institute staff as needed, and identifies priority topic areas missing subject matter experts. Collaborates with team members on an annual data analysis and report for the Institute's leadership and program staff regarding agency-wide data collection efforts. Performs basic research of various forms of scientific and technical literature and prepares summaries and in-depth reviews. Coordinates with staff in order to communicate research progress and results. Recommend changes and improvements in research processes and procedures. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 represents priority rankings, where 1 is highest priority and 5 is lowest priority of those ranked Minimum Education Bachelor





Additional Qualifications: Certifications & Licenses BA/BS, or MS in Psychology, Biology, life sciences, or a related field.
