JOB SUMMARY: This position is a permanent position to assist the Georgia Small Ruminant Research and Extension Center in the breeding of the Dairy Goat herd and packaging of products at the Meat Technology unit. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the breeding of dairy goats. Partition the herd in breeding groups of 10-20 does. Identify the buck to use for each breed. Perform estrus synchronization. Keep accurate breeding and kidding records. Assist in meat packaging in the Meat Technology unit. Weight and label packages. Adhere to strict instructions on the Client Request Form.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in animal science Hands-on experience in field experimentation techniques Knowledge in reproductive physiology of small ruminantsWORK CONDITIONS: Travel required - traveling for training, and collaborative research (5-10%) Evening/night/weekend work - Monday - Friday 8 AM- 5PM Working outdoors - barn research pertaining to ongoing research Climate controlled environmentUSG Core Values Statement The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning, as well as the System Office.
