Research Data Analyst 1 (24-month fixed term)Stanford University is seeking a Research Data Analyst 1 (RDA1) for the Center for Undiagnosed Diseases (CUD), a site of the Undiagnosed Diseases Network to manage and analyze large amounts of data and information, typically technical or scientific in nature, under the direction of project researchers, investigators, or managers.
The RDA1 will perform analysis/interpretation of genomic data alongside other multi-omic and medical data to facilitate diagnosis of rare genetic disease, and will assist in additional aspects of case management for CUD participants.
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in Mendelian genetics; prior experience with variant interpretation, translational research program, and/or managing research results is an asset. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential. You will be expected to participate in supporting and tracking participant activities, case management, data analysis, project work, and research workflow. Duties include: Collect, manage and clean datasets.Employ new and existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data.Create databases and reports, develop algorithms and statistical models, and perform statistical analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements.Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine root cause for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggest possible solutions.Develop reports, charts, graphs and tables for use by investigators and for publication and presentation.Collaborate with faculty and research staff on data collection and analysis methods.Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.Communicate with government officials, grant agencies and industry representatives.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Undergraduate and/or graduate degree(s) that emphasizes genomics are preferred.Experience with variant interpretation or curation.Familiarity with data from at least two omics such as WGS, LR-seq, RNA-Seq, metabolomics, immunomics is preferred.Experience in a clinical research setting is preferred.Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (both verbal and written) skills.Attention to detail and accuracy to ensure data quality and completeness.Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with faculty and technicians to understand and perform analytic tasks.Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations and best practices for handling sensitive metadata.Strong problem-solving skills to address large (e.g. genomic) data challenges and issues.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs.Strong writing and analytical skills.Ability to prioritize workload.CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES: None.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.Occasionally use a telephone.Rarely writing by hand.WORKING CONDITIONS: Some work may be performed in a laboratory or field setting.WORKING STANDARDS: Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable University policies and procedures, including but not limited to the personnel policies and other policies found in the University's Administrative Guide.
