The Future of Computing is an Applied Research team focused on prototyping and exploring how (consumer) computing might holistically evolve as we advance on our mission of building AGI.
About the Role As a Research Engineer on the Future of Computing team, you will work together with both the best research scientists in the world and the greatest design talent of our generation to push the frontier of model capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background in addition to experience shipping AI products.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role you will: Train and evaluate multimodal SoTA models along axes that are important to our emerging explorations.Run through the necessary walls to take nascent research capabilities and turn them into capabilities we can build on top of.Be one of the first members of the team and help define our team culture and how we work together.You might thrive in this role if you: Have experience training and fine-tuning large multimodal LLMs.Have experience building applications with LLMs.Possess strong engineering skills to unblock yourself.Have strong cross-functional skills to speak the "language" of both research and product.Enjoy exposure to a bit of everything – we're collaborators with a hugely diverse set of research.Conduct rigorous science (rather than vibes based).
