Position Description SummaryThe Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) and School of Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking applications for two full-time faculty positions for scientists (PhD) or physician-scientists (MD or MD/PhD) with interests in control of breathing, opioid-induced respiratory depression, mechanisms of pain, and cardio-respiratory resuscitation. The MFA, an independent, non-profit academic clinical practice group affiliated with GW, serves the District's population, mainly in Wards 7 and 8, and/or the George Washington University Hospital, a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level One Trauma Center, located in the heart of the nation's capital.
Appointment to these full-time academic positions will be made at an academic rank (instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, professor) and salary commensurate with experience. A generous start-up package will be provided.
Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include establishing a successful program of basic and/or translational research pertinent to the department's scope of interest. Candidates planning to practice will be required to be board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Pain Medicine, or Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties and qualified to obtain a license in the District of Columbia.
Minimum QualificationsApplicants must possess a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree. Applicants must also have an outstanding publication record in peer-reviewed journals and an ability to obtain external research funding.
