The Office of the Chief Research Information Officer (CRIO) was established in 2018 with the inaugural position filled by Dr. David Dorr; the office focuses on leadership, innovation, and enhancing service in research informatics. This position will assist in innovation by supporting two projects across three departments (CRIO, DMICE and OCTRI) intending to provide new capabilities to researchers using Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) to exchange information. The HL7® FHIR® standard defines how healthcare information can be exchanged between different computer systems regardless of how it is stored in those systems. It allows healthcare information, including clinical and administrative data, to be available securely to those who have a need to access it, and to those who have the right to do so for the benefit of a patient receiving care. Founded in 2005 by Dr. David Dorr the objective of Care Management Plus (CMP) began as a technology-intensive, innovative primary care model that reduces hospitalizations, lowers costs, and improves health outcomes for older adults with chronic illnesses. The team continues to focus on interdisciplinary efforts to improve the quality of care for patients with chronic illnesses using care managers and information systems. Our mission is to improve health systems and outcomes for vulnerable populations through research, technology, and collaboration.
