Job Title: Professional Services Specialist IV Job Category: AFT , Range 18 Post Date: Close Date: N/A Salary: $53,277.47 - $61,266.03 Position Summary: The Residential Education Department at The College of New Jersey invites applications for a Residence Director. This position is a twelve-month, full time position managing a residence area housing approximately up to 750 students within our cohort model residential education program. Residence Directors play an integral role in the development of the curriculum implemented in their area, including creating lesson plans and contributing towards assessment of the curriculum. This position is for a one year appointment with the potential for renewal. The Residence Director will directly supervise student paraprofessionals in providing excellent services, programs, and support to residents. The Residence Director will adjudicate student conduct cases up to removal from residence, takes part in campus wide crisis management duty rotation and serves on divisional committee(s) as assigned. Our Residence Directors function as direct liaisons to facilities and assignments staff, in addition to a ResEd student group such as RHA, NRHH, or Student Staff Advisory Board. Qualified candidates will need to balance high level administrative duties with supervision and student development. Additionally, as the College continues to manage during a pandemic, this individual may be responsible for navigating residential student moves to isolation and quarantine, manage room turnover of isolation and quarantine spaces and other related supports for residential students. Main Responsibilities: Supervision and Staff Development-Directly supervise a staff of ten to twenty Community Advisors (student employees), two or three Student Managers (student employees), and indirectly supervise 20 Desk Assistants (student employees). Ensure that campus Affirmative Action procedures and goals are met in hiring, training, and evaluating staff. Develop, implement and facilitate on-going in-service training for hall staff with particular attention to community development, programming, and human relations issues. Community Development-Implement residence hall and area programs: working with staff to develop and fulfill programming objectives to ensure quality programming occurs in the areas of community development, appreciation of diversity, community service and life skills; hold staff accountable for all programming requirements. Required Qualifications: Bachelors' degree in student personnel administration or related field that supports the development of college students. Experiences with the student conduct process and residential education supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in student personnel administration or related field that supports the development of college students combined with graduate level work experience in residence life. One - two years' experience with direct oversight of a residence hall, including supervisory skills, proven commitment to student development and diversity and the ability to be flexible and work within a changing and growing residential program. Experience utilizing technology to train and educate students.
