JOB PURPOSE: Monitors the evening activity of students in apartment facilities ensuring safety, security, compliance responses to emergencies, incidents and student requests for assistance .
This position description indicates in general the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, and abilities. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required or assigned to this position. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information. Completes data entry of student files to the student information and financial systems including move-ins/outs, and adjustments. Keep all office procedures and supplies in order. Inventories and orders supplies and equipment. Maintains student files in order: Applications, Inspections, Financial documents, Funding source, input the files information and living cost with security deposit into the College system. Ensures that the residence hall is maintained in a clean, neat and proper order. Performs minor maintenance as needed. Monitors the activities of student residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; checks the security of all windows and doors; makes periodic rounds of entire facility; records any unique situations occurring on assigned shift. Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Completes required incident paperwork; inputs data into the computer in order to maintain accurate computer records. Assists with all verbal and physical aggressions that might occur from residents. Conducts monthly inspections of the facilities. Conducts a full scale unannounced fire drill at least once a semester, monitoring and reporting resident response times and any problems observed. Remains available throughout shift for contacts by student residents. Authorizes and oversees student use of the House phone as appropriate. Ensures strict confidentiality of student records and information. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED. One year work experience. College coursework preferred. Security or law enforcement background preferred. Current or ability to become CPR and First Aide Certified. Valid state driver's license. Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies. The Navajo Nation Preference in Employment Act applies to all hiring, promotions or transfers of individuals into this position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Knowledge of new student assimilation issues. Knowledge of student support programs and services. Knowledge of security principles and practices. Must have excellent Customer Service Skills. Skill in operating business computers, phone systems, and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint). Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers and students at all levels. Ability to maintain confidentiality per FERPA. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format. Ability to communicate effectively in the Navajo and English language. Ability to work as an individually and as a team member in a structured working environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Use hands for dexterity of motion, and reach. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is generally performed in office setting and an outdoors environment with low noise level. Exposure to natural weather conditions, various dusts and mists, and normal debris and hazards common at sites may occur while performing outdoor duties. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
