**ABOUT THE ROLE**
CoStar has served as a respected source of news for the fast-paced real estate industry for more than two decades.
Our award-winning, industry-focused news informs subscribers and complements CoStars role as the leading source of real estate information and data.
CoStars news team is launching coverage of the residential housing market on Homes.com.
Your role would be to cover the leading agents and brokerages shaping the industry.
CoStar is rapidly expanding our news team to take our journalism to the next level.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced, digitally oriented journalist to put your stamp on national coverage highlighting the people and practices that are central to the homebuying process.
This is a high-profile beat and so we have a strong preference for an entrepreneurially minded journalist who has covered residential real estate for a general interest publication.
This role will be based in our Washington, DC office.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Demonstrate a command of the housing beat, closely following major industry trends, leaders and companies.
+ Collaborate and coordinate with CoStars news, research and analyst teams to ensure timely coverage across the many communities that make up our markets.
+ Cultivate a bench of knowledgeable sources and show a facility for gleaning insights from relevant information services.
+ Produce stories and other content that are expertly tailored for the web, email newsletters, social media and other platforms.
+ Follow generally accepted journalism ethics and standards to report the facts, including a commitment to truth, accuracy, fairness and impartiality.
+ Demonstrate an ability to write clearly, following AP style, in a way that engages a broad audience of property professionals.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ At least 2 years of experience reporting and writing for a daily publication.
+ Business journalism experience preferred.
+ Proven ability to produce original content that stands out in a competitive media landscape.
+ Solid web headline and story writing skills, with a command of AP Style and a knowledge of SEO and social media best practices.
+ Ability to work within a collaborative environment.
+ Proven ability to prioritize, drive and achieve results while working to deadlines under pressure.
+ Comfort with digital media, with a creative flair for images and other visual content to accompany reports.
+ A portfolio showcasing your top work.
+ Bachelors degree or higher required; ideally in journalism, communications, or a related discipline.
