Position Summary
The Residential Technician is responsible for providing support and assistance to individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders residing in INcompass Healthcare residential housing.
The technician will ensure the safety, well-being, and daily functioning of residents, while promoting a supportive and therapeutic environment.
This position requires a compassionate and empathetic approach and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and sensitivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Lives out the INcompass Healthcare promise by consistently displaying compassion, treating all with dignity, and providing exceptional care for everyone Incorporates the six principles of trauma informed care throughout all aspects of their work Provide direct care and support to residents, including assistance with daily living activities, medication management, and crisis intervention. Participates in completing apartment inspections Notifies supervisor and/or maintenance of damages, need for repairs, and/or health and safety issues Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized service plans for residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. Facilitate group activities and programming to promote socialization, skill-building, and community integration. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation.
Complete incident reports, adhering to confidentiality and privacy regulations. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to mental health and substance use disorders. Collaborate with external and internal agencies, such as case managers, therapists, or healthcare providers, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents. Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines, including maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality. Provides direct treatment according to agency policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in a related field is preferred. Experience working with individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders, preferably in a residential or community-based setting. Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, including symptoms, treatment approaches, and recovery principles. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with residents and colleagues. Ability to remain calm and composed in crisis situations, and effectively de-escalate conflicts or challenging behaviors. Demonstrated understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as occasional transportation of residents may be required. This position requires working in a residential facility, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
