We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Inventory Accountant Supervisor to join our dynamic team.
Position Summary
The Retail Inventory Accountant Supervisor will oversee and manage the inventory accounting process, ensuring accurate financial reporting and leading month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), proficiency in QuickBooks, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting or a related field.
This role will involve working independently and directly handling all related accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities Inventory Management: Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts.
Analyze inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to resolve inventory discrepancies.
Month-End Close Management: Lead and manage the month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate closing of inventory accounts.
Perform and oversee journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
Prepare and review inventory-related financial statements and reports.
Ensure all month-end financial reports are completed accurately and on time.
Communicate and coordinate with other departments to gather necessary information for month-end close.
Financial Reporting: Maintain and update inventory accounting policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits.
System Management: Utilize QuickBooks for inventory accounting and financial reporting.
Implement and optimize inventory management systems.
Provide training and support to team members on inventory accounting processes.
Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in inventory accounting, preferably in a retail environment.
Proven experience managing month-end close processes.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in QuickBooks.
Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
