Job Duties: The Retirement Payroll Support Technician completes all tasks required to facilitate processes payroll functions, including, but not limited to, receiving, reviewing, verifying, and processing direct deposit, and tax withholding requests, from annuitants. Updating and inputting data into an internal software system, and supporting the Benefits Disbursement team as needed, with other duties. The position will interact with other internal agency staff and external constituents as necessary, to resolve issues that arise during these processes.
Minimum Qualifications: High school degree/equivalent, plus any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position Knowledge of general office policies, procedures and practices Ability to verify data and analyze information Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and customer service skills Ability to work with other units to remedy issues Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, complete assignments within established deadlines, work well under pressure, solve problems, manage time, and work independently with minimal supervision. Strong computer skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, software applications, databases, and other technologies Additional Considerations: Previous experience in the public sector Special Instructions: Wage employees are eligible to work up to 1500 hours per year . VRS currently operates a hybrid schedule of two days in-office and three days working remotely. This is a temporary/wage position; therefore, benefits are not provided; the selected candidate will work up to 29 hours per week.
