Description
Essential Job Functions:
•Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials.
•Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability.
•Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
•Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
•Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain-falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
•Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
•Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
•Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as large steel beams, pipes and platforms.
•Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
•Clean, dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
•Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
•Education: High school diploma or equivalent
•Work Experience:
o Two (2) years experience as a rigger.
•License/Certifications:
o Must be NCCCO certified Level 1
o Alaska locations only: North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) Training
•Post Job Offer Requirements:
o Take and pass a pre-employment drug test
o Alaska North Slope locations only: Take and pass a Fit-for-Duty Examination
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
•Proficient working knowledge of all rigging equipment
•Able to inspect rigging equipment to ensure it is in good working order
•Able to assess each load and select proper equipment for the job
•Solid math skills for calculating load requirements
•Physically capable of working in demanding conditions
•Ability to read and understand plans, isometrics, drawings, specification and/or blueprints
•Basic understanding of rigging to move pipe into proper location
•Ability to plan and organize within a work schedule
•Possess good communication skills, both oral and written
•Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions
•Ability to take direction, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
•Fluent in English; bilingual a plus
•Reliable and hardworking with a team-player attitude
