About this department  The School Nursing Program provides healthcare access to over 90,000 students, in 31 school districts throughout the State of  Michigan. Nurses provide onsite care, rounding, and triage services. The program's objective is to provide health care resources to schools, by partnering with districts to fit their needs. The nurse helps to manage acute illness, injury and chronic health conditions for their students by partnering with districts to fit their needs.Scope of workProvides nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA), the National Association of School Nurses (NASN), and legally by the State of Michigan.  Demonstrates competency through critical thinking model known as the nursing process.  This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.  Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA and NASN.  This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health.  Strives to achieve optimal outcomes from students and families in the communities served. How we will care for you, while you care for our patientsComprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health, and work/life balance goals.
