TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Bangor, Maine, 04401 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - Charge Nurse Job Specialty: Medical Surgical Unit Job Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 7P-7A, 12-hour Night Shift Guaranteed Hours: 48 per week Experience: 1 year minimum preferred License: Registered Nurse Certifications: - BLS - NIHSS (preferred) - ONS Chemo certification (preferred) - EKG interpretation (preferred) Must-Have: Previous charge experience (highly preferred) Job Description: - Work primarily in the Medical Surgical Unit, focusing on diverse medical diagnoses except for Cardiac. - Common patient cases include Stroke, COPD, Respiratory issues, GI Bleed, Renal Failure (AKI/CKD), Oncology, Electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, weakness, and non-operable fractures. - Perform responsibilities on two similar level-of-care units. - Patient Ratios: - RN: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6 - CNA: Days 1:8; Nights 1:10 - Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, general medical-surgical skills (wound care, IV antibiotics, drain/tube management, IV starts, central line management), and experience with Insulin and Heparin drips. - Support available from CNA, charge nurse, RT, hospitalist, PT/OT/ST, and unit resource RN. - Utilize the Cerner charting system, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis. - Weekend rotation required every other week with no holiday time off permitted. - Professional scrub attire required; no crocs with holes, artificial nails, or personal cell phone usage unless on break.
