TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Bangor, Maine, 04401 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Medical Surgical Unit Job Duration: 26 Week Contract Shift: 7P-7A, 12-Hour Night Shifts Guaranteed Hours: 48 Experience: 1 year minimum preferred License: Registered Nurse license Certifications: - BLS - NIHSS (preferred) - ONS Chemo certification (preferred; may be required) - ACLS (preferred) Must-Have: Previous charge experience highly preferred Job Description: - Work in a Level II Trauma Center in a Medical Surgical Unit with 40 private and semi-private rooms. - Manage various patient types, including stroke, COPD, respiratory issues, GI bleed, renal failure, oncology, electrolyte imbalance, and altered mental status. - Routinely work on units with similar levels of care. - Responsible for Medical Telemetry patients if traveler does not have previous Telemetry experience, with support for strip sign-off. - Manage patient ratios of 1:5-6 during night shifts, subject to variations based on patient acuity and available tech support. - Perform trach care, chest tube management, general medical-surgical skills, including wound care, IV antibiotics, drain/tube management, IV starts, and central line management. - Utilize Cerner for charting and manage equipment including Alaris and Pyxis. - Collaborate with a support team including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy staff, house supervisors, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and PT/OT/ST during the day. - Participate in a weekend rotation every other weekend. - Align with the dress code requiring professional attire. Use of personal cell phones is restricted to break times.
