About Our Units Our general medical and surgical units cater to a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including: Chronic illnesses: COPD, Diabetes, CHF, End-stage renal disease Gastrointestinal issues: Pancreatitis, Bleeding, Gastroparesis, Inflammatory bowel diseases Infections: Pneumonia, Cellulitis, Sepsis, UTI, C-diff Neurological issues: Stroke, Dementia, Traumatic brain injuries Mental health disorders: Depression, Anxiety, Substance abuse Our patients also undergo various procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries (lap chole, incision and drainage, biopsies, amputation). Key Responsibilities As a member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional medical-surgical nursing care, including: Assessments and care planning Inter-professional communication Utilization of the EHR Management of IV pumps, wound vacs, heat/cooling pads, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes Handling heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy management Equipment Utilized You will work with a range of advanced medical equipment, including: Epic electronic record Pyxis machines Accucheck blood glucose monitors Hospira IV pumps SCDs for VTE prevention Heating/cooling pads Telemetry monitoring Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: Minimum one year of Med Surg hospital experience (two years preferred) BLS certification IN State or compact RN license Work Schedule You will work 12-hour shifts, with a requirement of 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks. You will float to areas in greatest need, with patient ratios of 1:5. While floating, you will only be assigned to other medical units. Orientation and Training We ensure our supplemental staff are well-prepared through our comprehensive Jump Start orientation program, which includes: 1 day of general hospital orientation Approximately 5 days of nursing orientation Epic classes Dress Code Our dress code is Caribbean Blue scrubs.
