TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Montgomery, Alabama, 36116 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Staff Float Pool MedSurg Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, 12-hour night shifts Guaranteed Hours: 36/48 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 18 months in MedSurg and/or ICU; Epic or Cerner experience required. License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience - Experience in wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration, and documentation - Telemetry experience preferred Job Description: - Provide care in various units with the following patient types: - General Surgery and Vascular Surgeries (Trauma Surgical Unit) - Neuroscience (CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS) - MedSurg/Oncology (palliative care, ETOH withdrawal) - Clinical Decision Unit (General MedSurg: COPD, CHF, Diabetes, etc.) - Orthopedics (Joint replacements, fractures, fusions) - Urology, ENT, Ortho - Maintain patient ratios of 1:5-6 depending on the unit - Perform skills such as: - IV starts, blood draws from central lines - Trach care, PEG, colostomy/ostomy management - Wound care, chest tube management - Surgical site care, C-Collar application and maintenance - Use of PCA pumps and managing dressing changes - Administer medication using Omnicell and document in Cerner EMR system - Interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every 4 hours - Participate in weekend rotation every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month - Adhere to holiday expectations, including working one major and one minor seasonal holiday Support Provided on the Unit: - CNA support (Ratio 1:6 for VS, ADLs, glucose checks) - Receptionist/HUC presence - Charge nurse seldom takes assignments - Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Teams available - Hospitalists and Telemetry monitoring techs on site Additional Notes: - Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for new or returning travelers - Non-self-scheduling with a 4-week scheduling cycle Orientation: - Classroom time: 24 hours - Unit time: 24 hours for new/returning travelers 26099539EXPTEMP Job Requirements Required for Onboarding ACLS - AHA BLS - AHA Core Competency Pharmacology Skills Checklist Specialty Exam 5 Benefits of Travel Nursing As a travel nurse, you'll work in various healthcare settings, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations, medical procedures, and healthcare systems.
