TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Rapid City, South Dakota, 57701 About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week Experience: Minimum 1 year; First-time travelers accepted if greater than 2 years experience License: Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Must-Have: - Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - IV starts - Blood product administration - CIWA - Drain/tube management - Indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management - Insulin drips (DKA and non-DKA) - Continuous bladder irrigation - Chest tube maintenance - Effective communication skills Job Description: - Care for adult patients with a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to CHF, ARF, respiratory failure, COPD, arrhythmias, sepsis, and more. - Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4 for PCU/Tele and 1:5 for Med/Surg during both day and night shifts. - Collaborate effectively as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism, adaptability, and a positive attitude. - Work alongside an LPN using a team nursing model to optimize patient care. - Attend a 2-day orientation with additional preceptor-led shifts. - Function as a resource nurse and support unit staff in tasks such as admissions, discharges, and transfers. - Participate in weekend rotations and holiday coverage as per scheduling norms. - Float to various units based on expertise and requirements, contributing to the care of adults in Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, ICU, and Observation units when needed. - Utilize electronic medical records systems to chart patient care and communicate with providers through secure methods. - Adhere to compliance standards for Pre/Post Pain Scoring audits.
