Job Summary: Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team, collaborates in establishing patient goals, and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Engages in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
Registered Nurse 2 CC- Cardiac Progressive Care (Inpatient 5 South)- FT
Located on the 5th floor of Vanderbilt University Hospital.
The environment on our unit is supported by a nursing model of care that is centered around the patient and family. We care for adult patients aged 18 years and older with various cardiac conditions, including recovery from coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair/replacement surgery, heart failure, heart transplant, myocardial infarction, heart arrhythmias, and cardiac post-procedural care.
Our nurses participate in Shared Governance, engage in opportunities for advancement, and are supported in an environment that encourages continuing education. We provide six weeks of unit orientation with a dedicated preceptor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum. Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis. Utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES Care Planning (Novice): Ability to anticipate resource needs, set priorities, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility. Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications. Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications. Evidence-Based Practice (Novice): Proficiency in searching for evidence to answer clinical questions.
