We are excited to be offering a new Weekend Only Program for RNs!Eligibility: RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included.0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend and one additional shift during the week.Compensation: RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay.If the RN is a full-time (3) 12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes.Scheduling: RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours 'off' of the weekend requirement. This would be given in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc. RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.The Prince Surgical Critical Care Unit is a 22-bed intensive care unit in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. The surgical ICU specializes in the care of critically ill trauma and surgical patients. The trauma population includes geriatric rib fractures, traumatic brain injury, multi-trauma requiring critical care needs, and the critical care adult burn population. The surgical population includes trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, and vascular surgery with critical care needs. Nurses in the surgical ICU also provide care to medical and neuro critically ill patients. Our nurses are competent in the care of patients requiring ventilator support, life-sustaining titratable medications including cardiac and sedation medications and assist with procedures such as bedside tracheostomies and central line placement. With experience and competence surgical ICU nurses can become specialty trained to care for patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy as well as manage the care of critically ill burn patients. Nurses working in the surgical ICU gain detailed assessment skills, critical thinking behaviors, as well as developing communication skills while working in a dynamic environment. The surgical ICU is a fast-paced unit that relies on teamwork and an interdisciplinary approach with not only provider teams, but ancillary staff to deliver excellent and effective care. RN's will have the opportunity to provide care to the critical patient on ventilators, provide titration of life-sustaining medication, cardiac and sedation medication. The nurse will assist with procedures such as bedside tracheostomy specialty line placements and can train for management of continuous dialysis and burn care.
