Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:
The RN Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Nurse Manager/Director in the administrative duties of the cardiovascular clinics and providing leadership through collaboration with the healthcare team and maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. This position will participate in organizational and unit-based quality improvement activities and provide input on standards of care to maintain quality patient outcomes. Will also maintain the clinical competencies needed to provide direct patient care when the need arises.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License Illinois upon hire and National Nursing Certification within 3 years and Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA) within 30 days and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (AHA) within 1 year.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2) years Nursing. Prior experience in Heart and Vascular Service Lines preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Demonstrates clinical leadership, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to multi-task. Must demonstrate the ability to accept and institute change. Must be able to work independently as well as function as part of the healthcare team. Demonstrates competency with adult/procedure patient population.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates daily nursing and staffing activities of department.Ensures staff members are adequately trained and are competent to perform all required job tasks.Performs various personnel actions including but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, and promotions; makes work assignments and reviews and edits work of subordinates.Resolves work-related issues, or assists employees in solving work-related issues, confers with manager to resolve more complex situations.Supports the manager in collecting information for accreditation surveys and departmental audits. Actively assists the manager with implementation of the recommended changes.Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.Develops, implements and participates in Quality Improvement initiatives and performs quality audits as directed/needed.Participates and leads in Process Improvement initiatives.Holds clinical staff accountable to Carle rooming standards.Functions as clinical expert in the development of CV order sets.Supervises a team of highly qualified and dedicated RNs.Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.Responsible for day-to-day operations of CV Ambulatory Clinic.Monitors daily staffing and creates monthly schedule to reflect provider/patient support needs.Works in direct patient care as needed.Supervises and assists with staff behavior, Kronos, and departmental workflows.Assists with appropriate policy additions, edits, and reviews.Oversees staff orientation, yearly competencies, and ongoing work quality.
