RN - Triage Nurse - Full Time (40 hours/week)
JOB SUMMARY: Working within clinic policies performs a wide variety of job duties including triaging phone calls to assure patients are guided to appropriate care. Works within clinic policy and closely with Providers to assure that refills and prior authorizations are completed in a timely manner. Able to assist with procedures as needed and to perform a wide variety of procedures independently including phlebotomies, wound care and IV placement and infusions.
Responsibilities: Maintains a valid license.Assists patients with refills and completing prior authorizations.Performs a wide variety of procedures including but not limited to phlebotomies, wound care, catheterizations, IV placement and infusions. Explains these procedures completely to patients.Maintains standards of accurate and complete documentation and reporting of pertinent information in a timely manner.Prepares, administers and records procedures/medications and IV solutions skillfully and correctly.Performs tasks assigned in a timely and complete manner.Participates in emergency and triage care.Assists in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures as well as the review and revision of existing policies and procedures.Participates in orientation and in-service training for medical staff personnel including safety education and drills.Assesses a patient's health concerns over the phone and guides them to the appropriate level of care.Must be willing to work a Saturday rotation.Performs INR testing and manages warfarin dosing using practice guidelines as needed.Assists with schedule as needed.Assists on floor at both clinic locations based on the needs of Prairie Clinic.Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care members.Maintains up to date professional and technical knowledge and nursing skills.Supports and enforces all Prairie Clinic policies, procedures and guidelines for care.Attends training sessions/meetings as requested and/or desired for knowledge and expertise.Participates in Prairie Clinic safety education and procedures.Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping all information confidential. Abides by all HIPAA regulations.Understands and follows Prairie Clinic employee policies.Participates in other assigned duties as designated by the Patient Care Supervisor or Clinic Administrator.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Registered Nurse with valid license.At least 2 years' experience.BLS certified.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the philosophy of principles of general nursing care.Exercises independent judgment and initiative.Must be able to multi-task.Must be a good communicator with excellent written and oral skills.Maintains a pleasant, courteous demeanor when dealing with patients, Providers, other employees, the general public and outside agencies.Good interpersonal and organizational skills.Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping all information confidential. Abides by all HIPAA regulations.Promotes Prairie Clinic goals and mission.Demonstrates appropriate leadership skills, attitude and approach.Maintains regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures.Entry level computer and keyboarding skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in a clinic setting.This position requires standing, sitting, kneeling, stopping, lifting, bending, walking, carrying, listening, talking, use of a telephone, computer and other basic office equipment.Lifting and moving of equipment and patients requires appropriate use of body mechanics.Potential for exposure to blood, body fluids requires appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment.ADA: The employer will make reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
