Primary Responsibilities: The Sales Manager will report to the Director of Sales and Marketing and will work closely with the engineering staff. This person will be responsible for maintenance of existing accounts as well as development of new accounts within SMP Engineered Solutions. The Sales Manager will maintain customer relations for the purpose of identifying and selling new opportunities as well as administering existing contracts. Duties: Maintain regular contact with engineering and purchasing teams of targeted existing North American accounts within SMP Engineered Solutions (ES) to ensure a consistent open line of communication. Work closely with inside sales, customer service, and engineering staff from all SMP ES facilities to provide timely and effect customer interaction. Identify new opportunities for product development to successfully quote and be awarded new contracts. Obtain and communicate customer requirements via the project database or other appropriate methods to our engineering teams for developing effective sales quotes. Be a customer liaison to allow for effective communications to and from all SMP ES departments. Provide SMP ES with timely and accurate market and competitive information. Maintain accurate details for new opportunities in Pipedrive Recommend and assist in marketing initiatives including trade show exhibits and other advertising methods Recommend pricing strategies for products as determined by market data and conditions Work to achieve annual sales goals and objectives for SMP ES Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and follow all applicable policies, procedures, work instructions, safety rules, and regulations. Education and experience: High school education or an equivalent is required. College level course or equivalent experience pertinent to sales and application engineering is required. 2-3 years of relevant sales experience required, preferably in mechanical or electro-mechanical product s for OEM accounts. Position Prerequisites: Specific technical training in backgrounds of sales and application engineering is preferred Must be able to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings Must be willing to travel overnight approximately 25-50% of the time Should have a reasonable platform manner and be capable of making presentations to various sized groups for communicating the company's capabilities and benefits. Should have experience making initial prospect calls and selling opportunities within the company's capabilities. Physical Demands: Position demands prolonged sitting and walking, extended use of computer use and keyboarding and normal range of hearing and vision. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
