Job Summary B&A is looking for an SAP data archiving consultant to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Data Archiving Consultant to lead the design, implementation, and management of data archiving processes within SAP environments. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of SAP's data archiving tools, best practices, and methodologies, ensuring compliance, improved system performance, and optimized storage costs.
In this role, you will be responsible for working closely with business units, technical teams, and key stakeholders to manage and execute SAP data archiving projects, including data retention, archiving policies, and system performance improvements.
Responsibilities Develop and implement SAP data archiving strategies to optimize system performance and storage management.Work with business stakeholders to define data retention policies and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Establish archiving schedules and processes to minimize the impact on daily operations.Configure and execute data archiving jobs across various SAP modules (SD, MM, FI/CO, HCM, etc.).Monitor and troubleshoot archiving jobs, ensuring successful execution without data loss or integrity issues.Ensure that archived data is easily accessible for future audits, legal holds, or business requirements.Design and manage storage solutions for archived data, working with SAP ArchiveLink or third-party storage systems.Implement archiving procedures to offload inactive data from the SAP database, ensuring optimal system performance and reducing storage costs.Ensure archiving activities meet regulatory, legal, and compliance standards, especially in industries with strict data retention regulations.Provide support for auditing processes by making archived data available as needed, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.Analyze and improve system performance by reducing database size through effective archiving strategies.Collaborate with SAP Basis and technical teams to ensure that archived data is managed efficiently and securely.Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for data archiving processes, including job configurations, retention policies, and storage configurations.Develop and provide reports to management on archiving progress, data reduction, and cost savings.Work closely with business and technical teams to gather requirements, provide expert advice, and implement archiving solutions that align with business goals.Provide post-implementation support, ensuring that the data archiving process continues to run smoothly and that any issues are resolved promptly.Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of hands-on experience in SAP data archiving, including end-to-end implementation and management of archiving processes.Required Skills Experience with SAP modules such as SD, MM, FI/CO, HCM, and their respective data archiving objects.Strong knowledge of SAP Data Archiving Workbench, SAP ArchiveLink, and storage management solutions.Proficiency in SAP data archiving tools and techniques, including creating and managing archiving objects, deletion programs, and archiving jobs.Expertise in SAP document management systems and the configuration of external storage solutions.Strong understanding of database performance optimization and storage cost reduction via data archiving.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve archiving-related issues, ensuring system stability and data integrity.Desired Skills Experience in regulated industries (e.g., pharmaceuticals, banking, manufacturing) with specific data retention and archiving requirements.Knowledge of SAP HANA, including database size optimization and archiving in HANA-based environments.SAP certification in Data Archiving or relevant modules is a plus.Security Clearance Eligible to obtain a Government Clearance.
