ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Promotes a culture of safety and follows all local safety guidelines Saw Operator is responsible to inspect the equipment at the beginning of each shift, along with an audit that all safety devices and emergency switches are operational. Check work order for job number, part number, length and notes related to quality and production procedures. Complete rack tag, Daily Saw Report, and work order required information. Saw Operator will check saw table for debris that could damage the parts causing scratches and dents. Feed parts to the stop, keeping arms and hands away from the saw blade path and the clamp. Saw Operator will engage the saw to begin the cut process only once confirmation is received by the Saw Assistant that they are clear of any pinch points. Responsible for parts to be stacked on the age racks using socks (spacers) in between layers of product as indicated by the work order.
Ensure care is given to avoid damaging the parts and center parts on the age racks. It is the requirement of the Saw Assistant and Operator, with every age cart, to measure the length of the part as the first product is placed on the rack, in the middle of the rack and as the last part is placed on the age cart.
Record dimensions on the Daily Saw Report (QC-50). At the completion of the work order, the Saw Operator will record scrap on the saw report and complete the rack tag.
There must be a rack tag on each age rack, indicating Customer, order number, correct temper (T1, T4, T52), quantities, signed by the Saw Operator. To calculate Scrap: it is based on the number of billets ran (X), the number of pieces per billet (#) then subtract number of good parts that were run. Age racks will be either pushed or moved by a forklift to Building 2 for the aging process. Using air hoses, blow saw chips off of parts. Measures cut stock from machine using tape measure, mylar, height gauge, caliper or square to verify against specifications. Maintains production count. Inspects and loads data into computer for tracking when applicable. Monitors machine fluid level. Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation. Reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management. Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company. Actively participate, in all established company health and safety training programs, and comply with all policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE:  High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED). Previous manufacturing experience preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Frequent mental and visual attention where the flow is intermittent with intermittent checking.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
The employee must be able to work in a hot environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals.
The noise level is usually very loud.
The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes.
