General Summary
The Charter Township of Shelby is hiring crossing guards for the 2024-2025 school year serving Utica Community Schools.
We are currently accepting applications and plan to hold interviews at the end of July.
We are looking for regular school crossing guards as well as substitutes.
Regular School Crossing Guards work 1 (one) hour in the morning and 1 (one) hour in the afternoon ensuring that students safely cross the street at specific school crossing locations.
Work is performed on days school is in session.
Substitute School Crossing Guards perform school crossing guard duties on an on-call basis in the absence of regular school crossing guards.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess the ability to safely perform the job functions of a School Crossing Guard.
Must provide fingerprints and have an acceptable criminal history record as determined by the Shelby Township Police Department.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to hire.
Essential Job Functions Ensure the safe crossing of students at specific school crossing locations following established guidelines and using good judgment.
Report safety violations of motorists and pedestrians.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with students, parents, school personnel, Township employees and others.
Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.
Be dependable and meet acceptable attendance requirements at all times.
Physical Demands Periods of standing and walking outdoors in all types of weather conditions wearing appropriate safety gear.
Stop traffic by holding a stop sign over head.
Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by the Human Resources Department.
