The Office of Education & Training (OET) is seeking a Scientific Curriculum Advisor to help develop curriculum and provide instruction for the new Fred Hutch Post-Baccalaureate Scholar Program.
The new Fred Hutch Postbaccalaureate Scholar Program is for individuals who recently completed undergraduate degrees and would benefit from research experience and training to successfully matriculate and complete a PhD program. The program will expand Fred Hutch's pool of researcher talent and provide postbaccalaureate scholars with rigorous research experience and career development training to strengthen the skills needed for a successful research career. It will more broadly support those individuals from groups historically excluded in science by providing training that may have previously been unavailable or limited - helping ensure that scholars are competitive when applying to graduate school.
This position reports to the Post-Baccalaureate Scholar Program Faculty Director with accountability to the Associate Vice President of Science Education, and the OET Assistant Director, and will collaborate with the Post-Baccalaureate Scholar Program Steering Committee, on the initial curriculum development of the program.
Responsibilities Program Develop the content for a two-week training course to provide incoming scholars with basic laboratory skills to facilitate their transition to working in a lab full-time Develop the curriculum for the monthly mentoring sessions Identify online learning modules for specialty Develop the content for professional development activities including journal clubs and the annual symposium. Help identify grant opportunities for the program Identify and develop computational training module Develop community building activities Other responsibilities as required. In addition, the Scientific Curriculum Advisor will:

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in life science or education related field Minimum of one year undergraduate teaching experience Postdoctoral laboratory experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Data management and analysis experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in molecular biology, cancer research, or science education Direct experience with STEM programs serving youth from systematically marginalized /excluded groups A statement describing your commitment and contributions toward greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in your career or that will be made through your work at Fred Hutch is requested of all finalists. The annual base salary range for this position is from $67,728 to $121,680 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 11 days per year).
