Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Division of Preventive Medicine, is seeking a Scientist I to join our team.
General Responsibilities To employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in a particular field of specialization. To plan, coordinate and conduct research. To critically analyze data. To decide and propose analytical strategies and methods. Key Duties & Responsibilities Performs statistical and technical skills in the design of research studies. Collects, compiles, and analyzes statistical data. Performs statistical analyses for a broad spectrum of data and studies. Evaluates data quality and develops and maintains specialized databases. Under supervision, may assist with development of grant applications, presentation of results and scientific papers for publication . Data management tasks: develops and maintains study databases from the study, designs and implements data quality control measures, coordinates with PI and other study team members on the design of data collection, quality control, data transfer, data management, and report generation; provides documented study datasets for analysis; works closely with investigators and operations team to understand project goals and execute reporting and queries to meet project timelines. Data analysis tasks: prepares tabular, graphical, and statistical summary reports in support of investigator research and publication; assists in writing scientific manuscripts and reviews them for correctness and completeness; partners with research investigators and study teams to refine and execute plans to analyze study data then combines clinical and laboratory data in support of investigator research and publication; works closely with investigators to understand project goals and execute reporting and analysis to meet project timelines. Performs other duties as assigned. Annual Salary Range $63,125.00 - $103,700.00
Qualifications
Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR M.D. and Master's degree. OR Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Key Skills R, SAS, SQL programming skills. Knowledge of statistical methods. Management of large data bases and cohort studies .
