Position Title: Security Officer - (******** )
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a Security Officer at Montana State Hospital. Security Officers are responsible for physically observing and monitoring hospital buildings and the campus to maintain safety and security for patients, employees, and visitors. Responsibilities include protecting the hospital property against fires and vandalism and responding to emergency situations as required.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity: Knowledge of relevant equipment and procedures utilized to ensure safety and security in a mental health facility.Knowledge of current techniques in working with and treating the mentally ill.Knowledge of interviewing and information gathering techniques.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Excellent time management and organizational skills.Ability to make observations to report and record them accurately.Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.Ability to monitor and analyze information, events, or the environment to assess and resolve a variety of situations and circumstances.Ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, other agencies, and the public.Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete the essential functions including using word processing, e-mail, and computer programs relevant to their duties.Meet the following minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.2 years security, law enforcement or military experience preferred.1 year working as a psychiatric technician or similar work experience with security and mentally ill patient treatment functions preferred.Must have a current driver's license.Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.Salary: $25.60 - $25.60 Hourly
