Salisbury VA HealthCare System is seeking a Physician (Nephrology)
The Salisbury VA Health Care System (VAHCS) has been one of the fastest-growing VAs for the past several years and services over 100,000 veterans in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and surrounding areas of NC. It has three main locations situated within 60 miles of each other. Two facilities in Charlotte and one in Kernersville, NC, are over 300,000 square feet, brand-new Health Care Centers (HCCs), providing PACT and specialty services along with procedural areas for dialysis, cardiac cath lab, infusion clinic, GI, and outpatient surgeries. The Salisbury VA is a level 1A center with the main campus, which additionally provides a long-term care facility, emergency department, inpatient mental health unit, general medicine, intensive care units, oncology and research programs, and surgical services.
Administrative Responsibilities Exhibit a steadfast dedication to delivering exceptional customer service. Serve as the medical director for both inpatient and outpatient dialysis, while also fulfilling the role of acting chief for the dialysis unit section, in accordance with the directives from the chief of medical services. Provide support and expert guidance to the advanced practice provider assigned to medical services within their specialized area. Offer leadership and oversight to medical students and residents assigned to medicine services, specialty services, and clinics, ensuring adherence to established guidelines and center policies. Participate in medical center committees and programs aimed at enhancing patient care services. Set and review professional and personal goals on an annual basis. Recognize professional development needs and engage in training programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, and other learning opportunities, while also completing the facility's mandatory annual education. May also assume the role as Medical Director. Clinical Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to both inpatient and outpatient adults aged 18 and older. Act as the staff attending physician for assigned subspecialty consult services. Engage in peer review activities upon request. Demonstrate leadership by implementing changes in patient care programs informed by current research and study findings. Consistently show proficiency in diagnosing and treating seriously ill, multi-symptomatic patients as dictated by clinical assessments. Deliver clinical and dialysis care in Kernersville and Salisbury, North Carolina. Work Schedule Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME). Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement for CME (must be full-time with board certification). Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting. Minimum Requirements United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Board certification in a relevant specialty.
