In this role, you will lead and contribute to Natcast's research initiatives in semiconductor technology. Advances in semiconductor technology will increasingly rely on co-optimization across traditional abstraction boundaries such as design and device technology, with a focus toward application-domain specific system design. The role aims to advance U.S. leadership semiconductor technology through research and development conducted at the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC). You will drive cutting-edge research that advances performance and efficiency of computing, directly contributing to Natcast's mission of re-establishing U.S. leadership in semiconductor technology.
To thrive in this role, you must possess understanding of CMOS logic technology, advanced 3D packaging, memory devices and systems, and Si photonics, with in-depth understanding in some of these areas. Coupled with this technical expertise, you should demonstrate strong leadership and project management skills, showcasing your ability to manage and drive complex research projects. Your passion for driving innovation in semiconductor technology and your ability to translate complex research concepts into practical applications are crucial. Proficiency in collaborating with cross-functional teams, academia, and industry partners is essential to effectively drive novel research in semiconductor technology.

The Semiconductor Technologist plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of computing architectures and memory systems, directly impacting the competitiveness of the U.S. semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities: • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate new materials and processes into scalable semiconductor solutions.
• Interface with external partners, suppliers, and research institutions to leverage external innovations and technologies.
• Prepare and present technical reports, publications, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and standards in semiconductor research and development.
• Contribute to Natcast's strategic planning for future research directions.
• Present research findings to stakeholders and at NSTC events, industry and technical conferences.
Required Skills and Experience: • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in semiconductor research and development.
• Experience in leading research projects or programs.
• In-depth knowledge of semiconductor device physics, materials, and processing techniques.
• Proven experience in leading and managing complex semiconductor projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and creatively.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging semiconductor technologies and industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with advanced semiconductor fabrication techniques.
• Experience in working with advanced semiconductor materials and processes, such as GaN, SiC, or other wide-bandgap materials.
• Prior experience in semiconductor device modeling and simulation.
• Familiarity with industry-standard software tools and equipment used in semiconductor research and development.
• Proven track record of publications and patents in the field of semiconductor technology.
• Track record of publications in top-tier conferences and journals in the field.
• Familiarity with semiconductor industry trends and roadmaps.
• Experience in collaborating with industry partners and academic institutions.
