MFA physicians provide comprehensive patient care, offering one practice for the whole person with 52 medical and surgical specialties.
As members of the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences faculty, MFA providers are teachers and mentors for medical students, residents, fellows, and researchers preserving the rich tradition of academics, research, and healing.
In addition to maintaining a closely integrated alliance with The George Washington University and The George Washington University Hospital (GWUH) which is separately owned and operated by Universal Health Services (UHS), the GW MFA has active referring relationships with 12 area hospitals.
The GW MFA's leading healthcare presence in the DC metro region is complemented by a network of community-based practices in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Given its geographic location in central NW Washington, DC, and proximity to more than 175 resident embassies, the MFA continues to evolve its international clinical outreach.
Position Summary
To prepare financial reports that track the organization's asset liabilities, profit and loss statements, ensuring compliance with standard accounting procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Compute taxes and returns Prepare, reconcile, and analyze assigned general ledger accounts Complete monthly journal entry uploads and prepare supplement schedules Participate in month-end, quarter, and yearly close activities to maintain the integrity and accuracy of MFA financial records Support annual audit activities by preparing assigned tasks or retrieving requested support documentation for audit samples Maintain appropriate records and files, instituting or enforcing accountability and confidentiality procedures according to the nature of the data.
This includes but is not limited to updating and maintaining mapping tables, websites, the network shared drive, and other online applications, focusing on paperless files and records Organize, anticipate, research, and/or prioritize critical issues and accurate information for the department to facilitate efficient decision-making Serve as backup for various positions within the team, as needed Participate in projects and initiatives with other members of the Accounting and Finance team Comply with financial policies and regulations Perform other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
Education A Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting/Finance, or an equivalent combination of training and experience Experience A minimum of 1 year of experience in Accounting or a related field Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Accounting field Demonstrated ability to follow instructions while also working independently Physical Requirements Walk, bend, twist, and reach above the shoulder frequently in an office setting.
Must be able to occasionally lift or carry and frequently push or pull up to 20 lbs.
