SUMMARY Northline Seafoods is an innovative, growing seafood processing company looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This position provides accounting expertise around day-to-day accounting processes and supports management in financial reporting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Provide financial analysis and evaluation to support decision-making.Participate in month-end close process preparing journal entries, overseeing revenue recognition and assisting with workpaper review; ensuring deadlines are met and financials are in accordance with GAAP.Perform inventory valuation with validation and comparison of standard costs to actual costs.Help establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.Research accounting rules and regulations and make recommendations regarding company policy.Assist the financial team in providing reports for external auditors as needed.Assist in and prepare state local and tax filings, property taxes, B&O filings and license renewal.Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure financial records are accurate.Maintain and update the general ledger on a regular basis.Utilize financial software and expense management systems for various accounting tasks.Partner cross functionally to clearly communicate accounting operations with other departments to ensure operational excellence.Collaborate with other departments to minimize expenses through cost controls.Identify and propose changes to inefficient or ineffective internal policies and procedures.Assist Fisherman Accountant in ad-hoc projects related to fisherman.Perform A/P and payroll functions as needed.Provide monthly budget to actual reports to department leads. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent.Strong preference to candidates with experience in the seafood industry.3+ years relevant experience – must demonstrate knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.Experience working with operations and finance teams in a start-up environment.Experience with data analytics, financial reporting and managing audit processes desirable.Self-starter, ability to multi-task and adapt.Superior data management and data analysis skills.Comfortable working in a dynamic, growing operating environment.Ability to work with remote team members and locations.Proficient with Excel, including data management, pivot tables, etc.Proficient with QuickBooksAdvanced knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets, including experience with pivot tables, macros and other advanced functions.Knowledge of financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
