DescriptionThe Justice Climate Fund (JCF) is a purpose-built nonprofit designed to provide the capital and technical knowledge necessary for community lenders to successfully finance clean energy projects in low-income and disadvantaged communities across the country. JCF will capitalize its coalition members, including Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) banks, loan funds, and housing developers, to create a clean and just energy transition for their communities.
JCF is supported by an existing ecosystem of coalition members, including the African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs, National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders, National Bankers Community Alliance, Partners for the Common Good, and Oweesta Corporation, along with technical assistance partners that will help community lenders deploy clean energy projects. With its $940 million award, JCF will stand up a Community-Based Green Lender Certification Program that utilizes several application waves and capital reservations to ensure that community lenders receive funding only once they have been appropriately assessed, trained, and certified.
About the PositionTo move JCF to its next level of success, JCF seeks a Senior Accountant to provide financial and accounting services, support grant management, and ensure compliance with our related programs. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations and serving as a liaison to staff for the implementation of grant-funded activity.
Job Responsibilities: Prepare monthly journal entries for internal program and grant financial statements.Prepare and review grant billing invoices or financial reports for grant programs.Review account balances and support program staff with grant monitoring and compliance.Support the year-end accounting close process and assist with the publishing of internal and external financial statements.Provide support to the Controller and CFO during the annual audit.Prepare trial balance account reviews, account reconciliations, and report on findings to the Controller.Review program budgets and report on spending trends, opportunities for cost savings, and other related financial management improvements.Design, propose and implement internal control improvements at the program level.Conduct staff trainings to increase compliance and program knowledge of financial administration.Adhere to all weekly and monthly accounting deadlines.Assist with staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.CPA preferred but not required.Minimum of five years relevant experience in accounting, contract management, and grants processing (billing and reporting).Proficiency in MS Excel is required. Strong skill in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.Proficiency in Sage Intacct.Excellent organizational and administrative skills.Knowledge of US GAAP accounting rules.Experience with budgets and ability to assist with budget management and manage credit cards, purchase orders, and other expenses that impact the budget.Prior work experience in a nonprofit environment or work experience with federal contracting.Strong interpersonal skills, excellent team player with ability to interact tactfully and effectively with staff.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required.Strong written and oral communication skills.Benefits and PerksProfessional development funds and opportunities.Collaborative and inclusive organizational culture.An Equal-Opportunity Employer with a Commitment to DiversityThe Justice Climate Fund (JCF) is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
