Supervises various accounting functions for the company. Performs complex account reconciliations and analysis. Responsible for controls related to external and internal financial reporting and ensuring that all transactions are in accordance with GAAP. Develops and implements effective procedures for assigned areas. Manages and assigns work to accountants, accounting clerks, and other associates engaged in general accounting activities.
Position can be located in either Buffalo, NY or Schenectady, NY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare complex financial analysis on various areas assigned and participate in period close process as needed.Supervise and develop management and clerical personnel as assigned. Manage work assignments and establish priorities for staff. Set annual goals and objectives for staff to meet business needs.Develop working knowledge of systems within areas of responsibility. Responsible for balancing and maintaining the data integrity of assigned systems (G/L, A/P, A/R, F/A, Inventory, Exp Pay, Bank Recon, ProcureIt).Work on special projects as requested. Coordinate the activities of assigned staff throughout the various stages of given projects.Prepare reconciliations to support external financial reporting and footnotes for assigned areas.Act as a resource to outside auditors regarding requested information for the completion of quarterly reviews and annual financial audits.
