QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor's degree, or academic or technical programs or experience determined to meet equivalency, required, Master's degree preferred, with an emphasis in business and/or accounting;
•Advanced skills using a variety of computer applications, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, accounting software, and communication software;
•Five years of accounting experience in the maintenance of financial or statistical records for large or medium-sized institutions, school district experience desirable;
•Experience with comprehensive computerized data analysis;
•Successful experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, positive attitude, and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted during work.
OVERVIEW:
Under the general supervision of the Fiscal Services Director, this position performs a variety of complex technical and specialized functions supporting the District's position control, payroll, purchase requisitions, and financial analysis.
In addition, this position provides minimum leadership and coordinates the tasks of the fiscal services staff, including accounting, payroll, budget preparation, and monitoring.
This position will work directly with departments to develop and monitor financial and accounting records in support of budget functions of the District's central business operations.
The Senior Accountant serves as a technical resource for allocating funding sources to expense items, including approving position control and budget lines.
In addition, the Senior Accountant will work together with curriculum and instruction departments to complete the LCAP financials and will be responsible for assigning financial resources to each goal, action, and service outlined in the LCAP.
This position will operate with limited supervision, exercising independent judgment and decision-making skills regarding standard accounting procedures for the District.
