Position Overview
The Senior Accountant, Revenue performs a vital role within the finance the team, maintaining billing records and ensuring that the appropriate revenue recognition methodology is utilized and adhered to.
This position is based in Washington, DC (hybrid schedule).
Essential FunctionsThe ability to troubleshoot all types of projects, e.g., Time & Material (T&M), Firm Fixed Price (FFP), and Cost Plus (CP), are essential to succeed in this role.Generate invoices, monitor unbilled, and ensure all billable costs have been invoiced within the billing cycle.Review invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations.Ensure that we have a well-documented end-to-end Receivables to Revenue process.Review all billing setups for new or revised contracts.Prepare a comprehensive analysis of unbilled on a weekly basis.Assist with developing methods to automate billing.Assist internal and external audits and identify potential problems, or areas for improvement, and provide solutions.Assist with documenting detailed process flows and desktop procedures for billing and contract close-out, including upstream and downstream processes.Reconcile accounts receivable-related balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.Record cash receipt transactions on a weekly basis.Responsibility for ensuring accurate revenue recognition adoption and timely recording.Acts as the primary back-up for other revenue functions within the department as needed.Provides overall support to the Finance Department related to the annual financial audit.Provides support to the Finance Department with the preparation and submission of the annual IRS Form 990.Ensures excellent customer service by providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders as needed in a polite/professional manner.Selection CriteriaBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Familiarity with Project Accounting and Revenue Recognition.5+ years of progressive experience.3+ years processing and/or validating project type, e.g., Time & Material (T&M), Firm Fixed Price (FFP), and Cost Plus (CP) invoices.Strong project management and analytical skills.Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.Must have ability to organize, prioritize and have time management skills.Benefits & Compensation
