JOB TITLE : Senior Accounting Analyst

SUMMARY :
Accounting Analysts / Senior Accounting Analysts in the Train Revenue Compliance area ensures that the train service employees are adhering to the policies set forth in the ADL 205 manual.
This includes performing field audit functions, reconciling onboard cash sales in OBTIMs to CSS (LIRR's Revenue system), analyzing trends in onboard ticket sales for unusual activities, and handling any issues related to service punches, duplex pads, correction notices, or incorrect onboard ticket sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Protect Company assets relating to revenue compliance by ensuring the collection of outstanding cash owed by train service employees.
Organize and perform train service employee field audits at various terminals.
Reconcile daily cash fare reports from train service employees to ensure revenue is accurately captured in management console (LIRR reporting tool) and CSS (LIRR Revenue system).
Analyze OBTIM transactions to address potentially fraudulent activity.
Develop audit techniques based on analysis of various system data trends and unusual conditions that are deviations from standards.
Assist the Revenue group in investigating any differences from ticket office machines that may pertain to conductor remittances.
Answer phone calls and other inquiries from conductors and resolve them in a timely manner.
Maintain and dispose of boxes related to cash reports, rolled stock, and MetroCards at the warehouse.
Capable of implementing fare exception pricing in OBTIMs for specific stations or systemwide via management console.
Confirming proper fare collection is done through field observations.
Assist with the maintenance, modification, and updates to CSS (LIRR Revenue system).
Investigate systems and procedures for the purpose of developing, recommending, and implementing new processes.
Provide timely and accurate reports related to revenue compliance.
Interact extensively with various departments, including Information Technology, Transportation, MTA Police, Stations, Public Affairs, MTA Audit Services, etc.
Support the department with updating and testing of the LIRR tariff.
Coordinate with Transportation and other departments to revise the ADL 205 Manual and Train Service Employee Fare Cards.
Support Revenue Supervisors and Managers within the Revenue Management 's department.
Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of accounting systems and procedures (such as PeopleSoft).
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power BI and PowerPoint) and LIRR systems (CTAMS, Data Warehouse, Management Console, CSS and Train Crew System).
Excellent analytical capabilities.
Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management and external contacts.
Works well in a team environment.
Strong ability to take control of assigned tasks with limited supervision.
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

80% -1st- 365 calendar days
85% -2nd 365 calendar days
90% -3rd 365 calendar days
95% -4th 365 calendar days
100% -After 1,460 calendar days.
For Employees Hired After 9/24/2014:
80% -1st- 365 calendar days
80% -2nd 365 calendar days
85% -3rd 365 calendar days
90% -4th 365 calendar days
90% -5th 365 calendar days
95% -6th 365 calendar days
100% -After 2,190 calendar days.
New employees may be hired at any step of the wage progression.
Employees transferring from other positions on the Rail Road will be placed at the lowest step of the wage progression which represents an increase in pay above their prior base salary; if this step is less than 10% above their prior base salary, the employee will be placed at the next higher step as long as the increase does not exceed the 100% rate of pay for the position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field.
Accounting Analyst requires one to three years accounting, finance or similar experience including database management and reporting, along with financial analysis and reconciliations.
Senior Accounting Analyst requires a minimum of five years accounting, finance or similar experience including database management and reporting, along with financial analysis and reconciliations.
