Job Summary The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for specialized, insightful accounting work in addition to supporting the daily activities of payables, receivables and treasury. The Senior Accounting Specialist will collaborate with internal and external customers, monitor sales tax transactions, analyze accounting records, GL reconciliations, audit deliverables and perform month-end closing procedures. In addition, this person provides support to the Accounting Manager and Finance team for inquiries & special projects.
\n Duties & Responsibilities Provide key support to the Accounting Manager and Finance team for inquiries, projects, and supporting documentation Maintain and update all internal customer accounts (receivable and/or payable) along with daily input routines Collaborate with customers and WAI personnel to resolve account and transactional issues Routinely review accounts receivable and/or accounts payable for discrepancies Maintain and provide key support for multi-state customers, sales taxable transactions and exemptions Balance various ledger accounts as assigned Propose adjustments and documentation as needed to account journal entries Perform and assist with month end closing procedures in accounting system Effectively apply and maintain appropriate proofs and checks Analyzes accounting records, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to corporate (or department) standardsAnalyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information Qualification & Job RequirementsExperience and Competencies: Requires a minimum of 5+ years' experience related to financial accounting Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel Prefer 2 years' experience with sales and/or excise tax or accounting analysis Aviation or Corridor platform experience preferred SOX experience a plus Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or 5 or more years' experience in a progressively growing accounting role Other Prerequisites Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check Ability to obtain Airport issued security badge Valid Driver's license Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work is performed primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
