General Responsibility Statement:
Works with minimal supervision. Performs complex activities relating to automation of the design, bill of material and distribution of designs to production. Provides support to engineers and designers that use the automation systems to process designs. Requires initiative and judgment in design and/or modification of automation programs used to design the truck body. Provides leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff. Confers with Sales and configuration design personnel as needed to discuss design problem areas and clarify product specifications. Works under the supervision of a degreed engineer. Follows all organizational and departmental procedures, safety policies and directives as outlined in the Maintainer Employee Handbook, Maintainer Quality Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Engineering department standards and practices.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Creates programs and CAD models to reduce design errors and reduce design time of Maintainer products through automation.
2. Trains others on how to use the automation programs and models effectively.
3. Make improvements to these programs and models based on Sales, Engineering, Production and Customer service input.
4. Perform or initiate design reviews, analyses, and CAD designs for new components and products using customer and/or supplier information.
5. Recommend, coordinate, and implement changes to improve product design, performance, and reliability.
6. Work with the Engineering Manager and the sales department to create and implement changes to the model design.
7. Maintain accurate engineering data.
8. Receives input from sales department and others and converts information to documentation needed for truck assembly and production.
9. Provides manufacturing employees with truck design packet.
10. Author or create the following documentation as relating to Maintainer product under the supervision of an Engineer or Senior Engineer.
• Engineering Change Orders
• Bills of Material for Maintainer product
• Project Reports
• Designs, prints, and supporting documentation for work orders
• Process diagrams & schematics
11. Provide technical and product support to Maintainer Manufacturing, Purchasing and Sales & Marketing Departments and Senior Management.
12. Coordinate design projects with other departments, lower level technical staff, and suppliers to ensure project parameters are met.
13. Participates in the FORT process and attends FORT meetings on a regular basis. This responsibility involves the overall inspection and review of trucks prior to shipment.
14. Participates in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and showing initiative in areas within direct control.
15. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualification Requirements:

Competent in Computer Operations:
A. CAD - 2D and 3D drawing creation.
B. Basic computer programming languages

D. Engineering Network File Structure
Working knowledge of Mechanical Design practices and procedures. Knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems relating to mechanic service and lubrication trucks. Familiar with materials used in the design of mechanic service and lubrication trucks. Understands metal fabricating, finishing, and assembly processes. Utilize Maintainer parts numbering system and parts description nomenclature for components and assemblies. Works effectively in teams and with other work groups. Shares information that others need to do their job.
Education, Reasoning Ability, and/or Experience:
Prefer a two-year mechanical design technology degree and five years industrial design experience. As an alternative two years of experience programming 3D CAD systems to create models based on input values. Demonstrable

training/experience

in computer programming is required. The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply problem solving techniques. Adept at programming in a 3D CAD systems to create configured models. Knowledge of standard drawing practices when producing design documentation, i.e., tolerances, welding and machining symbols, line conventions and dimensioning. Ability to develop product structures by creating engineering parts lists and bills of material.
Math
Must have knowledge and an understanding of the following mathematical expressions and be proficient in applying them to the general responsibilities of the positions. Math requirements, but not limited to: Algebra, trig, geometry, add, sub, multiply, divide, fractions.
Communication and Language skills:
Possess an aptitude for reading and comprehending moderately complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write technical information such as instructions and user manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position occasionally lifts 50 pounds. Required to sit and use computer, handle paper work, also to stand and use hands and fingers to grasp and hold objects, tools and or controls, likewise reach with arms and hands. While performing the duties of the FORT inspection, the employee will occasionally be required to walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is also at times, exposed to fumes and or airborne particulates.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
