Job Summary: The Senior Buyer coordinates the procurement and supply chain distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies. Schedules, orders and coordinates the delivery of parts/materials, equipment and services used in product manufacturing according to production plans. Controls the inventory of assigned production parts/materials in accordance with management objectives. Establishes standard cost on assigned production parts/materials for approval by management. Assists in the selection of particular vendors/suppliers with whom to place orders and acts as a primary contact with vendors/suppliers. Resolves problems with assigned production parts/materials, equipment or supplier orders. Job Responsibilities: Advises team members or management on the appropriate supplier to be usedAnalyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is neededAssures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the companyCoordinates all activities related to the procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through deliveryCoordinates appropriate methods needed to distribute commodities in a cost-effective manner.Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirementsMaintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of recordsNegotiates the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needsSolicits and evaluates proposals for the requested commodityEvaluates the performance of suppliers and manages supplier relationship.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsUnderstands and meets quality standards. Supports new ideas and helps to implement them Compensation for this position is from $55k - $60k depending on experience.
