Toole Design Group in Seattle, WA is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Senior Civil Engineer. Do you have a strong background in civil engineering with roadway/corridor design? A Day in the Life of a Senior Civil Engineer You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You lead, support, and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as AutoCAD in order to fulfill production work on your projects. You will share your knowledge with staff and clients, to develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents, as well mentor your colleagues to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.
You manage projects and participate in business development pursuits the Pacific Northwest as well as across our North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve.
We are targeting a salary range of $114,000 to $134,000 for this position. Additional years of experience may fall into a different salary range. Qualifications of a Senior Civil Engineer: Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineeringProfessional engineering license10+ years of experience developing construction documents for roadways or highways2+ years of experience serving in a project or design management roleExperience managing and/or overseeing work of junior staffA broad knowledge base in civil engineering, with specific experience in grading, drainage design and 3D modeling, roadway geometric design, and design of accessible public spacesExperience in preparing transportation and local agency documentsGeneral experience in coordinating utility and right-of-way impacts and street lighting, traffic signal, and landscape/hardscape layoutGeneral knowledge of project performance metrics and strategies for monitoring themProficiency in Computer Automated Design (AutoCAD or MicroStation) and a design software (Civil 3D, GEOPAK or InRoads) is requiredExperience reviewing construction plans and providing constructive feedbackExperience developing construction documents, cost estimates and specificationsInterest in multimodal and active transportation issues and design (specifically for bicycle, pedestrian, Safe Routes to School and/or transit integration) for all ages and abilitiesIt would be a plus if you have any of the following: Exposure to construction managementExperience analyzing and designing stormwater infrastructure is a plusExperience using stormwater design software such as WWHMExperience with business development activities such as tracking projects, developing proposals, and participating in interviews.Experience working on engineering projects in one or more of the following agencies: Seattle Department of Transportation, Washington State Department of TransportationExperience delivering federally funded projectsFamiliarity with national and/or local transportation engineering standards, including the City of Seattle, WSDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, NACTO, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual and/or ITE guidance documentsYou'll be great here if: You have strong leadership skills and enjoy participating in multi-disciplinary teamsYou are passionate about sustainability and the opportunity to work on challenging multimodal projects that make communities more livableYou enjoy producing high-quality work products and seeing your projects get builtYou have strong communication skills, whether written, verbal, or graphicallyYou can build relationships, bring enthusiasm to exciting projects, and are detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills.Work Schedule for a Senior Civil Engineer This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Seattle office of Toole Design is conveniently located in the heart of Seattle's Business District blocks from the Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, Central Public Library, and Waterfront. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit or ferry. RapidRide lines C, D and E stop right in front, and multiple Sound Transit light rail and Sounder Commuter rail lines are a short walk to the office. Bike lanes are close by on 2nd and 4th avenues.
