RER Solutions, Inc., is accepting resumes for a Senior Communications/Media Relations Advisor to become a part of our superior workforce.
The Senior Communications/Media Relations Advisor will provide onsite and remote federal program leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES Support the media relations team in creating and executing strategic communications campaigns, including developing key messages and strategies, with a crisis management lens Manage relationships with members of the media and proactively develop new relationships Develop materials intended for the media, such as story ideas, press releases, talking points, pitches, and background resources Support both proactive and reactive communications strategies related to a range of issues and crises, including supporting team members on how to plan for and respond to adverse public scrutiny in real time and in evolving situations Champion innovation and new ideas to help advance the client's strategy, then build robust internal consensus around that strategic approach Collaborate with senior leaders, respond to changing priorities, and adapt writing styles to meet the needs of audiences at various levels
Requirements
Minimum of US Citizenship required to obtain client-issued Public Trust10+ years of experience working in strategic communications on political campaigns, for a government organization, or in public relations agencies focused on public affairs or crisis communications 5+ years of experience with developing communications strategy or communications plans Experience with translating technical concepts to functional audiences, including senior leaders Experience with writing newsletters, articles, social media, and internal organization communications Displays strong creative writing, editing, and proofreading skills, as well as demonstrated expertise or interest in energy and climate Strongly preferred to have established relationships with energy/environment/climate reporters, particularly in the DC area Ability to be a proactive self-starter and multi-task in a fast-paced environment Displays sound professional judgment and a high degree of discretion, ability to remain calm under pressure Demonstrated project management, time management, and organizational skills Willingness to travel (~10% of time or less) Candidates based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area preferredGeneral knowledge of and passion for clean energy and climate change policyExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent attention to detail and an understanding of fundamental business writingExpertise in Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree, Master's degree in a related field preferred
