Summary As a Senior Construction Materials Testing Field Technician, you will be responsible for in-the-field testing of concrete, soils and other construction materials. You will use a company provided vehicle to travel to job sites in the area to perform routine field testing including compaction testing, sampling and observations of soils, stone and asphalt, utilizing nuclear density gauges and drive tube methods. You will also perform concrete, grout and masonry quality control tests through sampling and visual observation, document and report your findings. \n Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure that all testing equipment used is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy, and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycleEnsure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies or proceduresTravel to various job sites in a company-provided vehicle  to perform sampling and testing on construction materials, such as concrete, soils and asphaltReturn samples to the office for testingReport data in an accurate, complete, timely, and understandable fashion in accordance with applicable testing proceduresOperating testing equipment; ensure that all test equipment used is functioning properly and maintained as required by the company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycleOperate a motor vehicle; maintain company vehicle (schedule oil changes, check fluid levels, inside/outside upkeep)Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisor, advising of current job status and locations as required; cellular phones are to be worn at all times, and calls are to be returned immediatelyRegular attendance is required; technicians must arrive on time for scheduled jobsPrepare testing reports using Field Data Collection (FDC) software; ability to write and retrieve emails using Microsoft OutlookMust be willing to travel within the state of Georgia, if applicableComplete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policyTurn in required paperwork dailyRegular attendance is requiredMust be flexible to changing schedules and hours to support business needs; overnight and weekends schedules may be necessary to support business needsFollow all company safety procedures and policiesOther duties may be assigned Qualifications5+ years of prior experience with construction materials testing and inspection requiredOne or more ICC Special Inspector certifications in Reinforced Concrete, Soil, Structural Masonry, Asphalt, Basestone and/or Post-Tensioned Concrete requiredACI Concrete Testing Technician Grade 1 certificationValid Driver's License with an acceptable driving recordMust be at least 18 years old for entry onto job sites, must be able to lift up to 75 pounds (lbs.) repeatedlyAbility to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clientsComputer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reportsMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form Preferred Experience & CertificationsAmerican Concrete Institute (ACI) Certifications in field testingTennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Construction Training Qualification Program (CTQP) certifications in field testingConstruction and/or engineering experience
