The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and leading the global privacy and data protection strategy, ensuring compliance with a range of privacy frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other global regulations.
Key responsibilities for this role include providing expert legal advice on privacy and data governance matters, collaborating with internal teams to manage a robust data privacy compliance program, and leading incident management related to data security and privacy.
The role also involves contract review and negotiation, training and awareness initiatives, and acting as a liaison with data protection authorities and external consultants.
Applicants for the Senior Counsel, Privacy position at the company should have a Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree, with a minimum of 6-10 years' of experience in privacy, data protection, or related areas.
A strong background in advising on global privacy regulations, particularly in the technology or SaaS industry, is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of collaborating across departments, managing cross-functional projects, and balancing legal risks with business objectives.
Additional qualifications include a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification, expertise in drafting and negotiating privacy-related contracts, and a strong understanding of technical concepts related to data security and IT infrastructure.
The role requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
