We seek a high-impact, innovative Data Scientist to identify, analyze, and articulate data requirements and artifacts supporting the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) Operations Directorate as part of the Joint Fire Element at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. You would be an excellent candidate for this position if you have experience and knowledge supporting Integrated Joint Fires across the Services, Allies, and Partner Nations within the Indo-Pacific Joint Coalition Fires enterprise to achieve maximum effects against targets and have experience working across multiple staff offices to collect and fuse data, develop innovative methods to standardize data ingestion and tagging, and support on-going management of associated USINDOPACOM data assets. This position requires an active US Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility (Top Secret/SCI preferred).
\n WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGWork across all USINDOPACOM directorates and special staff to understand the data resident within the Command, the data types most frequently used, and for what purpose.Provide ontology and data quality for all USINDOPACOM data.Advise in the evolution of an INDOPACIFIC data strategy and associated policy.Utilize industry-standard communication and visualization tools to visualize and communicate complex quantitative information and analysis.Interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis to customers and other stakeholders with required/appropriate documentation.Tag data assets (i.e., operational, intelligence, enterprise, business activities) to support search and discovery of existing data.Facilitate and develop relationships with the Geographic Combatant Command Chief Data Officers (CDOs), Combatant Commands CDOs, and the Joint Staff CDOs.Support USINDOPACOM's planning and data management responsibilities for risk and vulnerability assessments.Determine which data are available and valuable for the project.Collect, categorize, and analyze data.Create, validate, test, and update algorithms and models.Use data visualization software to present findings.Make business recommendations to stakeholders based on data analysis.Maintain a real-time understanding of technical requirements that include: Apply analytics and customer segmentation techniques within intelligence functions. Maintain, move, and manipulate data between applications using appropriate software (e.g., Apache Spark, Python, R, Elastic Search, Kibana, and others as technology evolves). Identify meaningful insights from extensive data and metadata sources. Compile reports, charts, and tables based on established statistical methods. Prepare conclusions and predictions based on data summaries. WHAT YOU HAVE DONEPossess an Active Top Secret (TS) US Government Clearance and be SCI eligible.Six+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a related field; will also accept Master's + 3 years. Demonstrated proficiency with data science techniques/methods of extracting, organizing, and analyzing structured and unstructured data to form valuable insights and inform decisions.Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and creativity in developing and exploiting alternative sources of non-traditional information for DOD customers.Communicated effectively, verbally and in writing, to provide information, articles, written reports, and presentations, including delivering executive summaries to flag and general officers (FO/GO) and Senior Executive Services (SES) level officials. EVEN BETTERPossess a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) US Government Clearance.Experience with USINDOPACOM Headquarters, the Indo-Pacific Area of Operations (AOR), and associated intelligence/operational missions. Experience with intelligence community systems and tools.Experience working in a 4-Star Headquarters.Experience with AWS, Java, C++, APIs, SOAP, XML, JSON, and JavaScript. Salary Range$150,000 - $195,500 a yearThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, the Company considers several factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
