The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer is a key member of our Controls engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components used in our HVAC products. We are looking for experienced Electrical Engineers who can lead complex projects with a team of engineers. Primary responsibilities will include designing electrical systems and components, testing and validating designs, and providing technical guidance and leadership to other engineers. You will be responsible for ensuring designs meet performance, quality, and safety standards and solving technical problems throughout the development process.
In addition to technical expertise, Senior Staff Electrical Engineers must have strong communication and leadership skills as you will work closely with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping to develop their skills and knowledge.
Position Responsibilities may include: Technical: Develop Electrical systems for consumer appliances and Smart Home devices - Air Handler, Furnace, Thermostat, Smart Home devices, wired and wireless sensors, IoT Edge devices.Create and Evaluate Wiring Diagrams.Design control box routing and wire harness.Develop design standards and guidelines based on regulations and industry best practices.Perform detailed bench and lab testing of Electrical systems.Support and troubleshoot electrical issues in products in the field.Participate in research and development of new electrical technologies.Develop and implement energy-efficient electrical systems.Ensure electrical safety regulations and codes are followed.Develop project plans and schedules for electrical projects.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to electrical systems.Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.Interface well with other teams to perform root cause analysis and develop solutions to production problems.Coordinate with production engineering and maintenance teams to lead projects.Present and justify design decisions in design review meetings.May be responsible for managing projects, developing budgets and schedules, and providing leadership and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.Nature & Scope: Recognized as a subject matter expert in job area.Manages large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager.Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower level professionals.Problems faced are difficult and often complex.Knowledge & Skills: Technical In-depth knowledge of electrical components and the mathematical models behind them.Knowledge of symbols used in wiring diagrams, such as the main symbols, lines, and various connections.Design and specification of PSC and BLDC (Brushless DC) Motors.Familiarity with UL and NEC guidelines.Experience with PLM Systems (Windchill, Savvion, Teamcenter or similar).Solid understanding of power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution.Design and implement control systems, such as those used in manufacturing, automation, and robotics.Proficient in computer programming, particularly in languages such as C and Python, commonly used in embedded systems and signal processing applications.Thorough understanding of electromagnetic fields and their interactions with electrically charged particles and materials.Manage projects effectively, including defining project scope, setting timelines, and managing budgets.Process knowledge in dFMEA and 5-why methodologies.Excellence in Microsoft Office tools, including Advanced Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, MS Word, Automation via VBA and Macro, and SharePoint.Excellent communication skills, ability to explain complex technical content, and a desire to work in diverse, cross-functional teams towards common objectives.Proven experience in the development and troubleshooting of Electrical systems.Experience: 9-11 years of electrical engineering experience.Evidence of career progression.Demonstrated ability to deliver complex electrical projects with distributed, medium to large size project teams.Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.Master's or PhD preferred.Professional Engineer Designation (PE Certification) preferred.People Management: No
