The Senior Electrical Engineer will report to the Head of Electrical and Software Engineering and be a primary trusted interdisciplinary partner to help ensure the Volta instruments deliver the highest quality, and trusted DNA sequencing biological samples. Areas of work include debugging, designing and prototyping electrical systems within our complex electromechanical life sciences device. Be responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of new electrical features into our products. Invent novel actuation and sensing mechanisms and contribute to IP generation. Contribute to system architectural decisions such as motor selection, motor controllers, single board computer selections, etc. Ensure that all electrical designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements such as CE, FCC, UL. Your Experience:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering or physics degree.5+ years of engineering experience in a professional setting.Strong systems level thinking in designing electronics for electromechanical products that involve motors, heaters, and other actuators of all types.Experience with designing mixed signal circuits, high voltage systems, power electronics.Experience developing digital systems with digital logic and embedded processors.Design, layout and fabrication of printed circuit boards using Altium Designer or similar tools.Proficient in hand building, soldering, reworking, crimping, etc for rapid in-house prototypes or repairs.You have demonstrated experience balancing good quality practices and delivering.You are a solutions oriented contributor with a bias towards action over perfection.Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities.You are a pro-active team player who thinks ahead, plans, and suggests solutions.You are a continuous learner who embraces a growth mindset.Strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical information and present it to specialists and non-specialists.
\nThis is a full-time position that requires a significant amount of in-person work and collaboration onsite at our Seaport Office in Boston, MA. If you are unable to relocate or commute to the Boston MA area, this role won't be a match.
